While You Were Sleeping

While you were sleeping I stood by your bed!
I placed dreams of days gone by in your head
I took you back in dreams to many days ago
When we were together our hearts all aglow
While you were sleeping I saw your eyes start to weep
For deep in your heart is where we always meet
I am always beside you never far away
To watch and protect you each night and day
I whisper your name no sound can be heard
Over and over you say the same words
My life was short there wasn't much time
The answers you look for you won't find
While you were sleeping I touched your face
To try and let you know I am in a better place
While you were sleeping the night fades away
As the sun comes up and starts a brand new day
