When I Dream

Each day the sun sets and night time falls
I look at the pictures that are on the walls
My mind wanders back to the time they were taken
The memories are vivid since my life was shaken
Each picture I see shows a happier time
When my life was simpler and sublime
I remember those days deep in my mind
Like a treasure chest there you will find
Locked away and deep out of sight
Will come to me with dreams in the night
I remember those days not very long ago
When we were a family like a TV show
A time in my life when things really cared
Happiness abounds with the things that we shared
Nighttime set in and I get ready for bed
And hope for dreams of you to come to my head
And when I dream I will see you smile
It feels so real if only for a little while
Peace and happiness is what I find
When I dream and you come into my mind
I long to reach out and hold you my son
The sun now rises and my dream is done
A new day begins as life starts anew
I wait for the night to dream about you
