The joy of life that we treasure
Is the happiness and all its pleasure
Of life's loves and friendships made
We build around us a strong faced
We go on each day with our normal life
Raising our children free from strife
Birthdays and holidays you celebrate with joy
Sometimes you feel like a kid with a brand new toy
The smiles of happiness on your face shows it all
You feel so wonderful like you're 10 feet tall
Suddenly without warning your life is shaken
Your loved one has died they must be mistaken
Once you were happy and carefree as a lark
Now you cry whether it is daylight or dark
The life you once had is never to be
Nor will you ever be as happy and carefree
For life has dealt you a terrible blow
You had no warning there was no way to know
Now you are left with a hole in your heart
You know nothing or even where to start
You live in a daze clouded with grief
No future in sight not even relief
You once had it all at least you thought you did
Now all you have is thoughts that are morbid
Nothing is the same nor will it ever be
All you have left is past memories
