The Thief of the Night
As the sun sets and the moon starts to rise
The thief of the night is about to arrive
In the darkness of night he leaves nothing to share
He steals your heart and leaves it empty and bare
He goes straight to work right to the task
He smiles deeply when he hears you gasp
His role in life is to shatter your life
Fill it with sorrow and all the strife
He thrives on your fear and all of your pain
He has nothing to lose but everything to gain
Under the shroud of darkness in the still of night
He slips swiftly away before the early morning light
The thief of the night has struck once again
He tore your life upside down with nowhere to begin
He smiles once more as he has done his job
He knows it's true for he hears you sob
The thief of the night is looking anew
I hope and pray he doesn't find you
