The Price We Pay

The Price We Pay is beyond our control
It runs so deep down to the depths of our soul
What has happened to make us this way
All we feel is the grief and pain that came that day
The despair so deep nothing feels right
Our hearts are shattered as if cut by a knife
We look to others to help us in our despair
The sad part is that they don't seem to care
They do not understand the pain and the strife
They just say move on get over it, that's life
They do not know the depth of our pain
They don't understand we are not the same
The agony, the ache the emptiness we feel
Makes everything different nothing seems real
We look to our family and what do we see
Loneliness and grief and no empathy
The price we pay they just don't know
Its as plain on our face as new fallen snow
We look for support and hope for the best
This isn't a dream and not even a test
You feel estranged from family and friends
You think to yourself will this ever end
Husbands and wives seem to drift apart
Where is their love have they no heart
Your inner mind screams and yells
Don't you understand I'm living in hell
Life has changed yet you fail to see
Just how bad this has affected me
Why don't you hold me and comfort me to
Im so alone and I really need you
What did I do for you not to know
My tears and my grief I'm sure it does show
I ask for nothing but your promise to me
In sickness and health I would love thee
If only you would comfort me and hold me tight
Then I would know that I was right
Until I find out that this is true
Is the price I pay without you.
