Christmas day is coming soon as you know my friend
The times for the holidays is just about to begin
We cherished these days above all else for the happy times we had
Now we seem to dread them all they seem to make us sad
At the table where we sit there is now an empty seat
Once was full of happiness now it seems so bleak
The time we would shop for presents to place under the tree
All we have is ones unopened that was meant for thee
The remembrance of Christmas last brings tears from you eyes
You now wear a mask to hide your pain that is your disguise
Deep inside your hearts still yearns for the one who is not here
The same as last Christmas except it's another year
Some day I hope to understand just why you chose to go
And maybe next Christmas I may surely know
But as the holidays draw so near I can't get you out of my head
The ones I used to treasure are now the ones I dread
