When I Go To Bed

Sometimes late at night I lay in bed and cry
The heartache and the grief still no answer why
My mind won't accept the things I love the best
Nothing I do seems right since I laid my Son to rest
Not to long ago when everything seemed just right
Sleep would come so quickly when I turned off the light
Everywhere I turn everyplace I look
My emptiness feels like an old open book
Daylight comes so suddenly and you are still awake
The thoughts and sorrows haunt you how much more can you take
The loss that you have suffered comes with a heavy price
Your turn to friends and family and look to find advice
Nothing in this world has prepared you for this strife
When this tragic act occurred and your loved one took their life
No one can tell you nor can anyone say
How much your life changed on that tragic day
This is what happens each and every night
When I go to bed and turn off all the lights
I hope that one day this will slowly end
Then my broken heart just may be able to mend
