A Simple Man

I am but a simple man as plain as you can see
I lived life in the fast lane happy and carefree
Then one day fate would play a very important part
That's the day I never thought I'd be so distraught
To many things I didn't know and some I took for granted
Now wreak havoc with my life I wish I could have recanted
For this isn't possible for these things I cannot change
Sadly for me grief has come and now I 'm not the same
For a life was taken from me that I was not prepared to lose
If I had a say in this, it is I that you should choose
That was not an option on that tragic day
I was not ready for the price that I would pay
The impact and devastation that you left behind
Leaves me with a broken heart and a troubled mind
The holidays are approaching they are coming to fast
I can still remember the holiday's last.
The one's that I am dreading aren't to far away
Memories come back to me of that tragic day
Only to remind me the price that I still pay
