A simple life a simple dream<

A simple life a simple dream
We all loved Good Humor ice cream
You think back many years ago
Life was simple things were slow
Unlocked doors with little to fear
Everything was simple life was so clear
What happened to those days that we had
Families ate together everyone was glad
No disrespect to others we lived by the rules
Families were stronger we said prayers in school
We served our country and honor to be
We fought for freedom for everyone to see
All these things are from our past
My only wish is that they would last
Over the years things have changed
Once a simple life no longer remains
Doors are locked and windows closed tight
It makes no difference if its day or nite
Now those simple days of long ago
Are gone forever this I know
I may be old and not the same
Memories are all that remain
Now as I look around what do I see
Terror and greed and mockery
